‘The Civil Nodes’ Library adds over 850 new nodes to Civil 3D Dynamo. The Civil 3D 2025.1 Update was greatly expanded with 1000+ new nodes, compared to older Dynamo versions. And still there is a lot of functionality that is not yet available in Dynamo. The Civil Nodes helps you accelerate your work with many great nodes on top of those core nodes!

History

In Civil 3D 2020, Dynamo became available. The number of core nodes was not very high, and with the basics it was not really possible to do more than just some simple work. This didn’t change in the years after. But happily it was at least possible to create own nodes and packages, and so some of us did. That was how libraries like the Civil 3D Toolkit, made by Paolo Serra, and Camber, made by Zachri Jensen, became public. Also I created a package, the Arkance Systems Node Library. At first for trainees of the Dynamo courses, from the company I work for. Later, the package became public and together with the already mentioned packages, they were called the Holy Trinity.

When Civil 3D 2025.1 came out, Dynamo was extended with hundreds of new nodes. A lot of them had their origin in Camber and C3DToolkit (both creators work for Autodesk). For users, it is great to see such attention from Autodesk for Dynamo. But unfortunately, the API changed as well, and all three packages (and many more) didn’t work anymore. Also Python scripts were broken by the new version. After editing graphs in this Dynamo version, they became backwards incompatible.

Is it all bad, this update? No, not at all. It is great to see such improvement, and all those new nodes added. Sometimes changes can be painful for a while, but after some time, everybody gets used to it and then they can profit from all the new power!

And the packages? It is stated that C3DToolkit and Camber are not maintained anymore. And to make a clear cut line, I have rewritten the Arkance Systems Node Library to a brandnew package: The Civil Nodes. Not only full of familiar nodes, but also extended with lots of functionality from Camber and the C3DToolkit. Now it’s easy:

You need to install Arkance Systems Node Library, Camber and C3DToolkit if you work in Civil 3D 2024 and prior.

You need to install The Civil Nodes if you work in Civil 3D 2025 and higher.
